Avondale is, quite rightly, proud of its robust safety record as recognised by the Safety Management Advisory Services through this award.
The Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme, or RISQS for short, comprises a number of auditable modules that suppliers have to maintain in order to supply services to Network Rail. Starting with the Industry Minimum Requirements (IMR) and going on to, for example, Rail Interface Planning Scheme (RIPS) or Plant Operations Scheme (POS).

We are the single entry point for suppliers to the rail industry. Buyers of products and services throughout the GB rail industry use RISQS as its supplier qualification service. In short we help suppliers sell in to the GB rail industry by providing an open, fair and transparent way for them to be formally recognised as capable providers of products and services.

National Highways Sector Scheme are quality management systems for organisations working on the UK road network and are a compulsory requirement. The schemes aim to make sure that work is carried out to the highest standards of professionalism, using properly trained staff with an emphasis on Health and Safety.
Avondale is registered to deliver services under the following product codes:
Constructionline assesses applicants on their health and safety policy statement, their organisation and how it deals with health and safety and their specific health and safety arrangements. This means that everyone will work to an acceptable standard. All members of the Constructionline scheme are stored on a database which is accessible by members only.
In order to win work, a contractor must meet the buyers Health and Safety Standard. Being CHAS approved means that we are accredited by them, CHAS assesses applicants on their Health and Safety policy, their organisation for Health and Safety and their specific Health and Safety arrangements to a standard acceptable to buyers and others.
Accredited certification of the management system by LRQA to recognised national or international standards, such as ISO, gives us a credible means of addressing stakeholder concerns. Robust management systems have proven to be valuable business tools in management risk, bringing consistency to global operations, delivering change and driving improvement.
If a business requires the services of certification bodies, testing or inspection bodies, UKAS is appointed as the national accreditation body by Accreditation Regulations 2009 and the EU Regulation and operates understanding with the Government.
