Vacuum Unit

Following our successful build and test phase, the vacuum unit is now undergoing field trails on the motorway network.

Debris is sucked up through a 300 mm diameter heavy duty hose by a siz vaned 910 mm diamter impeller, capable of moving 5 cubic metres of air per second. Debris passes through the fan system providing a mulching action (something we're keen on here at Avondale - see here for vegetation mulchers), and into the integrated collection unit.

Early indications are that the seven cubic metre collection box will only need emptying once a week at the most.

Productivity statistics are as one would expect from another of our mecahanised solutions, with us currently covering around two and a half times more ground than the equivalent four man team.

To the right is some footage taken whilst the vacuum unit was trailing the other day near Leatherhead, apologies for the quality of the handheld video clip.
